G321 Evaluation rough draft

  1. 1) Use capital letters for the titles of films for example The Third Man!

    2) Characters: Spelling “femme fatale”. Also your female character is not a femme fatale, she is an ordinary girl who is the victim of a stalker.

    3) A good link to Bud (Bill’s brother) burying the bride alive in Kill Bill 2. But be more specific. The cliff hanger indicates that the girl in the body bag is still alive, this adds to the suspense and suspense is a convention of the thriller genre.

    4) Costume: Kill Bill 1 & 2 don’t consistently wear high street fashion. So delete this. Instead say you wanted to represent your characters as people your audience will recognise and identify with. The couple walking around a British city centre could be young people who are involved in further education, thus the fact they look so ordinary will engage the audience more fully because this crime could happen to anybody.

    5) Props: The connotations of the shovel!!!!! You need to discuss this because it is a primary prop in your film!

    6) Add how you used the convention of ambient lighting to emphasise the realistic nature of the crime.

    7) Sound….you need to explain how you used the convention of sound to add suspense and depth to the action. The soundtrack suggests the character with the shovel is a complex and vulnerable character. This makes him enigmatic – mysterious. He is a man with secrets as is the psychopath in “Se7en” (read up about this film to make an important reference to research.

A satisfactory effort but the white lettering on a black background is quite difficult to read. Could you alter this….keep up the good work Connor
